SO TWO BEES OR NOT TWO BEES

A poem written by Nick Knowles (Of jungle and DIYSOS fame!) for Solitary Bee Week 2019

So two bees or not two bees
In hives Or solitaries
Serving a queen
And causing a buzz
Or side by side tubing
In a hotel for bugs
It’s the solos we praise
With no husband or wife
As they pollinate
Messily scattering life
Leaf cutter, Mason
Either blue or they’re red
A solitary bee
When all’s done and said
is a worker
Flower hopping
So all things can grow
But now needs a hand
So let’s care and let’s show
That we value our bees
In all that they do
Because if we don’t
There’s no me and no you
